Meet the team: Business Development Coordinator Rob Peare

Our Business Development Coordinator Rob Peare is the latest colleague to feature in our ‘Meet the team’ series.

Rob is our Business Development Coordinator and he’s one of the main contacts for our partners at every stage of their gas and electricity connection projects.

Not only does Rob have extensive experience in the utility industry, but he’s also passionate about delivering excellent customer service. He’s always looking for ways to develop new systems and processes to help us become the first-choice multi-network operator.

When did you join mua Group, Rob?

I joined mua just before Christmas and I’ve not looked back since. It was mua’s fresh approach to working, in terms of how the company looks after both the team and its customers, that sold me the job.

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is different. Typically, business development roles are focused on going out and winning new business. It can all feel a bit ruthless. But my role at mua is different.

A big part of what I do is engaging with our clients and looking after their needs at every stage of their journey with us. Whether that’s generating an asset value quote right at the start of the project or sorting the asset value payments once the site is energised, I’m the first point of contact for my clients and I like providing that one-to-one service.

I always strive to deliver the very best experience for our clients, so I value having the freedom to implement new ways of improving our service delivery.

What’s it like working at mua?

Everyone is so friendly and always willing to help and share knowledge. There’s a real family feel to working here.

Maintaining a positive work-life balance is something that’s really valued here and something I appreciate. For example, working remotely gives me the opportunity to take my dog for a walk at lunchtime. It’s a great way to break up the day and get out in the fresh air.

How is mua different to other IDNOs and IGTs?

We have a fresher approach to working with UIPs and ICPs, than other IDNOs and IGTs. Essentially, we want the same thing as our clients – a quick and smooth build-out through quick design approval, quick MPRN/MPANs and faster payment to the customer. The way we operate – with efficient processes – enables us to achieve this for our clients.

Another reason why mua stands out from our competitors is that we genuinely believe that we’ll achieve our goals by helping our customers achieve theirs. That’s why part of my role is looking at potential leads for our customers in their regions and sharing these with their business development teams to pursue. It’s that kind of innovative thinking that sums us up.

One final question for you, Rob – what’s your dog’s name and can we see another picture?!

My dog is called Oakley (not named after the sunglasses). He’s a German Shepherd, however don’t let that fool you – he has to build up the courage to go into the garden when it’s dark out and refuses to go out for a walk when it’s raining!

Rob's German Shepherd Oakley is sitting in a field of bluebells.
