The first of 25 ultra-rapid EV charging hubs across London has opened to motorists at Hatton Cross Station, powered by our new electricity network.
Powering ultra-rapid EV chargers at Hatton Cross
Hatton Cross is the first of 25 new ultra-rapid EV charging hubs being built in London by Fastned and Places for London.
The joint venture between the EV charging operator and Transport for London’s (TfL) property company will see a new ultra-rapid EV charging network built across the city.
The new hub has capacity for 12 vehicles to charge at once from the 400kW ultra-rapid chargers and is just minutes away from Heathrow Airport.
Flexible electricity infrastructure design
As an independent distribution network operator (IDNO), we’re proudly adopting and operating the electricity infrastructure that powers the Hatton Cross EV charging hub.
We worked closely with the Hatton Cross project delivery team to ensure our infrastructure supported the hub’s accessible and user‑focused design.
We needed to ensure the new infrastructure met adoptable standards, with our LV cables allowing for a more compact site while maintaining the capacity required for ultra-rapid charging.
We carefully positioned our network assets to maximise bay space and pedestrian access around the hub and its iconic yellow solar canopies.
Supporting EV charging nationwide
We’re proudly adopting and operating the electricity infrastructure powering the Fastned and Places for London EV hubs across London.
We connect EV charging hubs of all sizes to our electricity networks nationwide, including bus depots, fleet hubs and public forecourts.
