What we do

A long-term utility partner

We commission utility networks that will last for generations to come. When we adopt your electricity infrastructure, we’ll own and operate the asset for you for its entire lifecycle

Installing your infrastructure

We work with your preferred NERS-accredited independent connection provider, who will install your electricity infrastructure.

Adopting your infrastructure

We adopt last-mile electricity assets up to 132kV, including primary substations, connecting data centres to distribution and transmission networks.

Operating your infrastructure

We provide peace of mind that your supply is secure and reliable with 24/7 remote monitoring and emergency response.

Who we are

About mua

We’re an independent distribution network operator (IDNO), operating high voltage and extra high voltage electricity infrastructure that powers data centres across Britain.

We’re licensed by the energy regulator Ofgem to adopt, operate and maintain electricity networks that connect data centres to the grid. But unlike regional distribution network operators, we’re not restricted to operating in a single geographic area.

We’re also a regulated water and wastewater services provider, adopting drinking water and sewerage networks.

As an independent network operator, we can help you navigate the challenge of grid capacity constraints to energise your data centre more quickly.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Why should I choose an IDNO to energise my data centre?

We’re an Ofgem-regulated IDNO, providing expert solutions for high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) grid connections to data centres.

In adopting the grid connection to your data centre, we’ll own and operate the essential electricity infrastructure for you. Our competitive asset values can reduce your upfront capital costs, while our grid connection expertise helps reduce connection lead times.
