About mua

Our vision is to be a next-generation multi-utility network operator. We’ll achieve this by delivering outstanding value and service to our customers.

We’re an independent electricity and gas distribution network operator, connecting homes and businesses to essential energy infrastructure. We’re also a regulated water and wastewater company, adopting clean water and sewerage networks across Britain.

Our mission at mua is to help build better and more sustainable places to live and work. We’re licensed by the energy regulator Ofgem and the water regulator Ofwat to adopt and operate newly-constructed utility networks nationwide.

Our heritage

We were founded in 2019 as a joint venture between the leading international engineering and construction company Murphy and the UK gas distribution company SGN.

Through our two shareholders, we have a rich heritage of engineering and utilities expertise.

We first launched as an independent distribution network operator (IDNO) and an independent gas transporter (IGT), operating electricity and gas networks. We’ve since expanded into the water sector as a New Appointment and Variation (NAV) company, providing water and wastewater services too.
